Job Description

This organisation is seeking a motivated and proactive individual to join their firm of Chartered Surveyors as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.


Duties:


In this role, you will manage the financial and contractual aspects of their construction projects. Your responsibilities will include preparing detailed cost estimates, conducting cost analyses, and ensuring that projects stay within budget. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to provide expert advice on cost planning and procurement strategies. Additionally, you will oversee project progress, manage contractual agreements, and facilitate effective communication among stakeholders, ensuring that each project is delivered successfully and efficiently.


As a Quantity Surveyor, you will lead and assist on a variety of projects across a range of sectors, both pre- and post-contract with the support of a Director or Senior Surveyor, which will vary depending on the specific needs of their clients and projects. Your responsibilities may include:


  • Preparing detailed cost estimates and budgets

  • Conducting feasibility studies and cost analyses

  • Advising on procurement strategies and contract selection

  • Managing tender processes and evaluating bids

  • Monitoring project costs and financial performance

  • Preparing cost reports and forecasts

  • Administering contracts and managing change orders

  • Chairing and minuting site, design and stakeholder meetings

  • Completion of Interim Valuations and Recommendations for Payment

  • Facilitating communication between stakeholders and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:


Qualifications


  • BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying (or equivalent RICS accredited degree); Minimum 2:1

  • MRICS or working towards


Skills and Experience


  • Minimum 3 years of quantity surveying experience

  • Consultancy experience preferred but not essential

  • Experience within residential and commercial sectors beneficial but not essential

  • Valid UK driving licence

  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities

  • Effective communication, both verbal and written

  • Effective organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines

  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite

  • Use of CAD Measure and CATO systems beneficial but not essential
